Why today do we need hybrid vehicles to get 45 mpg, when the 1990 Honda Civic was capable of the same? Cars in the early 90's were smaller and more efficient than today's vehicles. Why are we sold hybrid vehicles as some sort of advancement, when the 1990 Honda Civic was capable of 45 mpg with a conventional motor? What kind of mileage would a 1990 honda Civic hybrid achieve?

It appears the compressor turns off during slow city driving. Once you get on the highway for extended periods the A/C does fine. 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid Air Conditioning Sweak? I have a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid with a strange intermitten sweak that comes up only when the air conditioning is on. It's hard to describe the sound, but it's closely related to a sound that lasts about 1-2 seconds, is somewhat loud, and starts off at lower note and then goes higher. It can also happen when we turn the off and it's sitting for a few seconds. Everything works great though, just been bugging me lately since it's the summer and the air conditioning is on a lot.

THERE IS NO extended warranty. What should I do? Fix it with the dealer? I feel like it's reap off, almost new car is broken and many people report same SRS problem. Catalytic converter problems on Honda Civic Hybrid 03? I have an 03 Honda Civic Hybrid. It has 122,000 on it. I had an emission test done in 01/08 and passed. I had the 120,000 service a month ago and everything was fine. They said something about the throttle sticking and did a fuel injection. Mind you I've had a rattling noise under my car when I first start it each morning for two years now-took it to three dealers and they all said, oh the car is old-that noise is normal. A month later after my 120k checkup (may), my check engine light comes on and my catalytic converter is fried. How can I pass emissions in January, and have a good 120,000 service report in April,and a month later in May my CAT is fried? 3 years ago, honda updated their software because they said they a software malfunction was making the fuel burn lean and could cause the Catalytic converter to fail. I don't know if any of this is related, and I know my car has a lot of miles on it, but how can my catalytic converter just fail one day? Thank you.

battery life of a 2003 honda civic hybrid? My good friend has a 2003 honda civic hybrid with around 60k miles. She wants to sell it and has asked me for advice. What are some good websites that explain the aging process of hybrid cars? What diagnostic tests are out there to make sure that the fuel cells are still fully charged and the battery is working efficiently? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Help with car buying decision? 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid for $9700? About to buy a Honda civic hybrid for $9700, which is less than $10,000 for a hybrid....but it has 90,000 miles on it. And it's sold as is no warranty. It just had one owner according to Car fax and it also had a carfax guarantee of some kind. Drove good, the engine sounded perfect and the interior was good other than some cigarrette smoke burns on the seats. Should we grab it or go for some other used car like a Toyota or Hyundai which isn't a hybrid but is around the same year with less miles (like 50 or 60K) and costs more around $6000 or $7000?

A question about my 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid...? I recently purchased a 2003 honda civic hybrid. Sometimes after i drive around and shut off the car i can still hear the fan running, its kinda loud. It takes a couple minutes or more to shut off...is this normal? Also, if i turn the car back on then shut it off again right away...the the fan shuts off.

When I looked it the value of this car it's around $13,000. The car has about 87,000 miles and seems to be in good condition. I am afraid of the life left on the battery. Honda only warranties he battery until 80,000 miles so this one is no longer covered. Given the cheap price of this car do you think I should stay away from it?

Honda Civic Hybrid (435$/mo) or Jetta (300$/mo)? I drive about 350 miles a week, so I'd save about 20 dollars a week in gas with the Civic Hybrid...But I figure since everyone wants a hybrid - If I buy one then I'll be able to turn it around and sell it in about 2 years for more money. 2008 honda civic hybrid? does anybody know why the gas mileage went down in the 2008 civic hybrid? the 07 civic hybrid gets 51/49 mpg but the 08 only gets 45/40? I am planning on getting a new civic hybrid. Should I look for a new 2007 though rather than getting the 2008?

Honda Civic Hybrid 2003: What should I Pay for it? I've found a 2003 Civic Hybrid and I've taken it out for over an hour of driving so far and I have no complaints. It does, however, have 110,000 miles on it... It has no scratches, it's never had any work on it other than maintenance, everything on it looks and still works great. It's blue-booked at around $9700 minimum for a private party, but I'm considering buying from a used car lot which seems respectable and has their own mechanics. They're asking $11900, but so far I've been able to talk them into the $8500 range. My main question is: are the batteries still going to work like they should after 110,000 miles, and is that an alright price for an otherwise very nice looking Civic Hybrid? I could really use the advice because my parents (whom I rely on for advice in these matters) say "I'd never buy a car with that many miles"... Should I trust them, or what say you?

2007 honda civic hybrid...weird thing happening? i have a weird thing happening in my 2007 civic hybrid. if i dont lock the doors (which i do sometimes if my husband is picking the car up and forgets his own set of keys), my car will automatically lock after a certain amount of time! there was nothing like this in the book, so why would this be happening? it drives me crazy! i know i should always lock my doors anyways but for it to lock automatically seems werid. anyone know anything abuot this? thanks!

Honda Civic Hybrid honks horn 3 times every time I start it up? I just got a Civic Hybrid recently that I love...but every time I start it up it will honk it's horn 3 times rapidly. It's not warning me about anything, as I've checked it out and nothing's out of the ordinary. I've also scoured the manual and still no answers...has anyone dealt with this before? It's really getting annoying, because everyone thinks I'm honking at them when I'm not! I've been flipped off a few times already (I guess it's a California thing)

I ordered a honda civic hybrid 2006 3 months ago can i legally get out of contract? I decide to buy a brand new 2006 civic hybrid, it's been 3 months since i signed the contract and the salesperson promised me (not in writing) that it would take up to 2 months, hey also stated that in oder to get the paperwork going they needed at least $1,500 downpymnt, meanwhile they would let me have a loaner, So i got a loaner, didn't signed no paperwork ot nothing to get the loaner. I kept on calling them at least once a week ever since day one to know when my new car was arriving. Now 3 months have passed and NOTHING yet! i'm still driving the loaner but i'm tired of wating for my new car, i went in yesterday and talk to the salesperson and he said he would't have a problem giving me the $1,500 back. So today i went in thinking i was gonna give them back the loaner and get my monay back and that would be the end of the deal. but gues what???!!! they want to keep the downpaymnt for the use of the loaner. That was never the agreement that we had. WHAT CAN I DO??

Subaru WRX, Mini Cooper S, or Honda Civic Hybrid? Alright, I have narrowed my car search to the 3 cars listed in the question. My situation is this: I am 22 and about to start my first job after grad school. I'll be commuting to a larger city that takes me about 30 minutes to get there without traffic (with traffic 45 minutes to an hour). There's some stop and go driving on the interstate. Anyways, I've always wanted a WRX, but have become less enthusiastic since they changed the body style. I want something that is FUN to drive. I like the mini S because it handles so great, and it gets really good gas mileage (customization is pretty sweet too). With the way I would make mine, it will cost around the same as a WRX. The hybrid civic would be my "Sensible Choice." Since I'm driving so much, the double gas efficiency of the hybrid over the WRX is appealing. Also, it's going to cost me about $4,000 less. Should I go power, handling, or economy???

Regular Honda civic or hybrid civic ? I will be a fourth year college student this year and am ready to buy my new car. I have $25000 for it. I am still debating between A regular civic or a hybrid. I like to drive fast but not race. I am not considering the si version at all, plus the gas milage on the si's really suck. I currently drive a 99 corrolla but want a new car design. If i get a regular civic I want it with sunroof, the gps system and a rear spoiler. Which regular civic model do you think is better ? The EX with all that i want will run around $22,300 while the hybrid would go for a little under $25000 plus it gets a tax reduction. When will the 2008 honda civics come out ? Recently I have also be seen the 07 nissan altimas. They are still in my price range and a little more luxurious than a civic. What r your opinions on this car ? Do you know when the 08 altima comes out ? btw I am looking for a 4 door car and not a 2door one

Just curious if anyone knows of a good place to get these wheel centers, I need one, and cannot seem to find them anywhere, I found one on Ebay but it doesnt look to be in that great of condition, and I found a honda parts dealer online, but they want $50 for one center, half the price of a new wheel lol, thanks in advance guys, I am going to try calling the dealer tomorrow to see if they can order me a spare depending on the price.

2004 Honda Civic Hybrid? Does anyone know why the Auto Stop does not work? It is an intermittant problem, over the past 2 days I have left home and driven about 10 miles, day 1 the auto stop did not work at all going, but coming home after about 1 hour parked it worked fine. Day 2 it only worked 1 time going and worked fine coming home after about 30 minutes parked. The a/c was off so there was no reason for the a/s not to work. Also my Civic is a 5 speed. I have only had it for 1 month and the a/s has worked great up to 2 days ago. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyway to test MPG on Honda Civic Hybrid without asking dealer to fill tank? Is there any real way to tell what MPG I will be getting before I buy the vehicle? I have read that some 05 civic hybrids get 30 mpg, and some claim they get 40-45, without having to ask the dealer to fill the gas completely, drive it around for 40 miles, and do back to the gas station and see how much gas I have to put back in, is there any way I can reset the Trip gauge so that it will automatically calculate it for me as I test drive the vehicle for say 30 or 40 miles? (I think the vehicle has this feature, I am just not sure how it works)? Does any one won an 07 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID with battery a/c problems? I am looking to sue HONDA as my vechiele will not drive in heat more then 14mpg. The A?C cuts out as the battery drains to nothing in the heat of the day. HONDA CORP says this is normal that my can can't drive in the heat of the day. HONDA refuses to deal with this problem. I also only get 25.8mpg when it says 49/51 what a lie. Please let me know as this can go to class action as HONDA states there are tons of us complaining. Honda Civic Hybrid or Toyota Prius ? Can anyone give me some input on which they think is better? I average 100 miles per day so I want something that will give me good gas mileage and last me for a while. I've test driven both and surprizenly they both drive really well. The prius is much more electronic which is cool, but if something breaks i'm afraid it could be expensive to fix. Any help/advise would be greately appreciated !!!
