How can I fit two carseats in the back of a Toyota Prius? I drive a Toyota Prius. I currently have one infant car seat in the middle of the back because it has to fit between the bucket seats (the depth is to long to go directly behind the drivers or passenger seats). My girlfriends' mom/dad seem to think that if they ever run out of gas in their 2007 Toyota Prius (hybrid) that the car's engine or some part of the car will "blow up". What is the TRUE gas mileage on a 2008 Toyota Prius? I have a 2008 Toyota Prius. The gas mileage on the paper I got from the dealer says it's 48 mpg city, 45 mpg highway. However, when I'm actually driving it, it seems that it's reversed: 45 city, 48 highway. I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or not. Is this a mistake from the manufacturer or a fault with the car? I'm really confused.. any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

How much better is the CO2 emissions on a Toyota Prius vs. a regular Honda Civic? I recently calculated my CO2 footprint and am quite bothered by my environmental impact. I work 40 miles from my house and while I do take commuter rail 2 days a week I still end up driving approx. 2000 miles a month. While I drive a fairly efficient car (2003 Honda Civic Coupe, 35MPG) I'm curious how my environmental impact would be improved if I bought a Toyota Prius. What would the CO2 output difference between these two vehicles would amount to? As discussed, most of my miles are highway miles however I do unfortunately put in my share of bumper-to-bumper traffic which is probably closer to city driving.
2008 Toyota Prius, the screen and the radio are not working. Any suggestions? I purchased a 2008 toyota Prius very cheap. Its a rebuilt salvage and I had to replace the front bumper and fix the screen inside. It has navigation pkg #6, everything inside works except for the screen and the radio...? Do I need to take my recently purchased 2005 Toyota Prius to the dealership for an oil change? I bought my car in Los Angeles and later, drove it to Austin, TX. I had to get an oil change in Tucson and did not go to a Toyota dealer. The service engine light is still on, despite having reset my oil change maintenance icon. Are they the only people with the ability to turn off that light? (I purchased the car used and it did not come with an owner's manual.) I have to get my car inspected and am afraid it will not pass as long as that light is on.

That means that they can push that button, and the battery will operate the vehicle a lot more then the engine. Toyota disabled this feature on all the North American sold Prius's. So, if you are liking that 60/59 MPG, how would you like 80/59? The Prius you own has the capability to run on EV only mode. Toyota Prius problems? 2006 Prius / 47 000kms — when I come to a full stop at a red light the gasoline engine runs high (energy monitor races up to 99.9) it stays so for a little bit, then shudders or abruptly switches to electric motor. Also when I start out (under 15km/hr, sometimes without foot even on gas pedal), the gasoline engine "comes on" very obviously and the energy monitor shows numbers in the 20s...30s.... With window rolled down, engine noise seems loud and somewhat "sputtering". Does anyone elses Prius behave like this? — no other Prius owner I've talked to seems to experience this, but I thought I'd cast a wider net. Toyota tells me this is normal.

I know it's a Toyota, but is it true that the batteries usually don't last longer than 200k? Also, I heard that by the time the car gets to 100k, the MPG goes under 40. If these are true, I will be going with a Camry, Corolla, Civic, or Accord because they have REALLY long life spans (200k+ miles). I know that new owners are very satisfied, but what if the car reaches 100k? 150k? 200k? I'm deciding between the Prius and the Honda Civic. According to my calculations, it would take around 14 years for the Prius and Civic to break even in price. After then, the Prius would become the better deal. However, I heard that the Civic can last FOREVER (300k+ miles), and that the Prius doesn't last more than 180k miles. So... which one should I choose? Thanks!
Toyota Prius Owners: Pros and Cons? My fiance and I are looking into getting a new Prius next year for our first car. We definitely want a Toyota (they're great cars) and we are really leaning toward a hybrid, but other suggestions are welcome. We both had a few questions and concerns though. The Prius is a little of out of our price range, but we thought it would be worth it with all the money we would save on gas. How many m.p.g. do you get on average? I have 3 questions--- a) open comments/opinions...? b) does it have a a/c outlet for my laptop computer? c) from your PERSONAL EXPERIENCE what is the mpg? I can go to the website and it says 51 highway/ 58 city. I'm not a guppy consumer, what is a "real consumer report" of estimated gas mileage. I was "burned" by listening to a salesman 5 years ago when I bought my first car. He said a Chevy Monte-Carlo got great gas mileage and great resale value. Also, if you wish to include any extraneous information to me, I will consider that of higher priority than that of consumers-exploiting-consumers. I HATE the fact that "gas money" 90% of it goes to humans who have opposite political philosophy--but thats just my personal raging opinion. The order of the information is illogical, - some stuff that you need when you first use the car is at the back of the book. Some information is at the front of the book, but you have to refer to two or three other pages before you get the full picture. Pure chaos. Worst of all is the seperate book for the Sat Nav. I have owned the car for about a month, and still not got to grips with how to use it. I had a Volvo before, and the manual was so logically set out - This Toyota effort is so unToyota like. The car itself is brilliant, but it seems to me that they gave the job of writing the manual to someone who had only done two years of English. Toyota Prius Tyre Pressure? When I recently took delivery of my '06 Toyota Prius, the tyres were all pumped to 180Kpa, and the ride was excellent. Following the recommendations in the hand book, I pumped them to 230 rear and 240 front. The ride is now hard. I currently drive a BMW 3 series. Is the toyota Prius a safe car? I know it has done good on crash tests, but those tests measure impact at 35mph... Thinking about buying a toyota prius but need a break point formula? I'm thinking about buying between the toyota prius and the Dodge Caliber (since I love hatchbacks). The Toyota prius costs 23575 and goes 45/48 The Dodge Caliber costs 18330 and goes 26/30 Assum that gas remains constantly $3 throughout the decade. Is the Toyota Prius Hybrid still the best choice.? For practical purposes is the Toyota Prius Hybrid still the best automobile to consider purchasing? I'm not picking on specific qualities but simply trying to get an overall idea as my wife and I who are retiring want to get an energy conserving and as environmentally friendly vehicle as we can and still stay reasonable for we do have a couple of Grandkids.
